China Urges Global 5G Standards

GTI summit 2017, held in the global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI), occurred at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) on the China Barcelona 2017.

Chen Zhaoxiong, Vice Minister of the Ministry, spoken at the summit that 4G has reached 1.77 billion users, accounting for twenty-four percent of the global mobile phone market , covering 578 of the commercial 4G network, the use of more than 8900 4G mobile phone penetration rate of fifty-eight percent.

With a 58 percent penetration rate, over the average level in OECD member countries, 4G network has covered all the cities and main towns in China with 770 million users, as large as half of the global 4G users. China has got more than 500 million TD-LTE users, 70 percent of the total 4G users nationwide, and the TD-LTE device industry chain is complete.

The Chinese government will accelerate the launch of 5G in 2020, and MIIT has released the 5G basis and architecture to get actively involved in the 5G standardization work and cooperate with ITU and 3GPP.
