For every wireless cell sites, the engineers must strictly consider and finish the weatherproofing job for the coax connector between 1/2" cable assembly and base station antenna. The coax connector is always the 7/16 DIN type or Mini DIN type (4.1-9.5 connector or 4.3-10 connector).

There are many solutions be selectable to weatherproof your 1/2" cable-to-antenna coax connection for wireless cell sites. They are: Butyl rubber and PVC tape kit, cold shrink tubes, and gel seal closures.

1. Butyl & PVC tape kit

Butyl & PVC tape kit is the most traditional method to seal the coax connectors. It is a kind of universal weatherproofing kit for connectors and splices, include butyl rubber tape and PVC tape. It provides a multi-layer, long-term environmental seal over multiple connections.
